SID's
Pocket
Parks
have
ARTitude
Left: Milay Park
Between K2U and
Functional Furnishings. |
A Pocket Park is a
tiny green space
that can be found
in an unexpected place.
|
The
Short North Special Improvement District (SID)
has identified at least 20 unexpected spaces on
North High Street in the Short North Art District,
which lies between the North Market/Arena District
and the OSU/University District. |
Everyone is excited about
having 20 little parks
along our stretch
of High Street.
" The Short North ... Is Art..." |
Precedents for our project can be found in many
other cities. Notable examples are in San Francisco
and most recently in Chicago after the massive
heat waves in the 1990s.

|
Pocket Parks inspire us.
Pocket Parks are good for us.
Green spaces help us
breathe better.
|
Green
space, no matter how small,
is healthy for people and communities.
Green space benefits property owners,
merchants, residents and visitors
to the Short North.
"...Art enhances theUrban Experience..." |
Pocket Parks are
a human experience
in an urban landscape!

Our energy is infectious!
Everybody does want a Pocket Park!
The City of Columbus, COTA, Short North property owners,
the Short North Neighborhood Foundation,
businesses and residents have made tiny and large
donations for these pocket parks.
Some of the funding will come from
the community of people who live, work and play
in the Short North.
Our contributions, tiny or large,
are fully tax-deductible and
will make the completion of all the Parks possible.
